Happy Friday! I hope you’re all having a great start to the weekend, which might just be a little brighter with some of today’s updates. ;) Tutorial The beginner tutorial has been updated. If you’re new or newly returned, I’d highly suggest going to Stable > Settings and selecting the option to reset your tutorial. This will allow you to read/play through it again, picking up on anything you might have missed last time. Scratching Scratching a horse who has been entered in a race will now refund part of your entry fee. This will not refund any extra fee associated with date of entry, so if you’re entering late you will not be refunded the full amount. Mini Profile A mini profile has been added to your stable and user profile pages. You can edit it from your stable page. It accepts HTML, like horse notes, but should not be used to add CSS to your pages. This is a place you can make brief ‘at a glance’ notes about you and your account, such as preferred pronoun(s), languages spoken, and time zone. Thanks Grooms for helping come up with this idea which should make it easier for players to find other players that speak their language (if not English) or to find people who’ve indicated they don’t mind helping newer players out. Newbie HT Horses We fixed a bug associated with Morale in HT horses for new players. This was causing to bypass the Morale buff they were supposed to get, starting with low Morale that wasn’t really suitable for racing. All HT horses have had their Morale reset to 100%. Starter horses will now come at 100% Morale and should be race-ready so long as nothing is done to reduce this. In addition, new player HT horses will start with 0% risk, reducing their chances of being hurt in their first few races. Green Member Training In addition to some basic HT changes, Green players will now receive a couple perks when training their horses for the first time. If a horse owned by a Green player has no distance or surface training yet, they will automatically go up to 100% on the first training that raises distance and/or surface. Again, this should help Green players get more horses onto the track faster - without risking injury associated with low distance/surface training. Horse Trader Geldings If you’re a Novice member or higher, you’ll find some new horses in stock at the Horse Trader: retired geldings! These geldings cost the usual HT price as well as a Trader Ticket, but give you a new way to purchase buddies when the Sales Arena has nothing to offer. In addition, you’ll be able to choose the potential range you wish to buy, letting you tailor these geldings specifically to your needs. They’ll all start out at 6 years old, fully maxed within the selected range, and will have Courage and Consistency maxed at 5 or higher. Blood Range If you visit the Geneticist, you’ll find a new thing called Blood Range Evaluation available for your horses. This is similar to a Blood Type, but cheaper. Rather than telling you your horse’s exact type, it will tell you what range your horse’s Bloodline falls in. You can purchase these for FFH$ at prices varying according to your status. Master and Diamond players can currently purchase Blood Ranges for the same price as Savvy - this is a temporary sale that will end in a couple weeks. In addition, you can purchase stacks of ‘credits’ for Blood Ranges with PC. The amount of credits awarded per PC will be based on status as well. Master and Diamond players can currently buy these credits for the same price as Savvy members - which will also increase to the normal rate in a couple weeks. This will show up on Hypomate and the pages where you view requests (for stud owners). However, it will not show up in terms of genotype searching. In other words, if you buy a Blood Range for a stud, it will show up on his Genetics page and Hypomate, but will not pull him into results when mare owners search for specific blood types. As we always stress that Blood Type is not necessary or (usually) economical for mares, we hope this will make breeding a little easier for those newer and smaller stables who have quite a few HT mares. No longer will you be stuck with a barn full of “unknown” mares and feel restricted to using III and cloaked studs! (A special thanks to whoever suggested this on the survey, as it’s turned out to be a fantastic idea!) |

I really like the Blood Range idea. I was spending a ton on blood typing every mare I had because I had so many stud owners deny my mares because their blood type was "unknown". I always type my studs, but doing so with the mares just seemed really expensive to only get three offspring out of it. |

So basically all the BTs I bought for my studs in the past are moot now. Well, that was a huge waste of money because now we have to go buy them all over again to get a 'range' when some of us already had it down for a good chunk of studs. Are their original types going to stay the same or are we going to have to re-test EVERY STUD we blood typed in the past now? |
AlitaLeRire (#378) Moonshadow Meadows Posted On: 11/16/18 10:19 pm |
(this goes with my above--I hit post too soon by accident) I'm asking because I've noticed that several of my studs that I know for a fact had purchased blood types are now no longer showing them, and that in itself is ridiculously frustrating as it seems like I've basically thrown away a large chunk of change now. :( |
