| It's the most wonderful time of year! Christmas? Not quite, but FFH January is still a cause for excitement. Time to take a peek at your 2 year olds, cross your fingers for foals, and settle in for updates. We don't have any big news coming your way just yet, but I can give you a quick overview of some of the little changes rolling in with the new year. There is a new Glow Up box and button which shows up on all horses when they turn it. It should also appear annually for greys, but a little bird told me it's not working for them yet. This should make it much easier to tell which of your beautiful babies have already been refreshed and which still need some love. Horse Trader prices have been reduced (for higher ranked players) and our pal Bob is now stocking 2 year old Thoroughbreds again. The updates coming for Horse Trader graduates don't stop there! Stallions will now receive a bonus $250,000 when covering any HT or MII mare. (If a mare is HT and MII, they do not receive a doubled stipend.) Additionally, mares bred to HT stallions will receive the same $250,000 stipend. Note that these only apply when breeding to horses owned by another player. If you cross your own HT mare by HT stallion you will not earn any bonus. In one last bit of good news for HT enthusiasts, we are adding some special series race divisions for HT horses. Horses who have been purchased directly from the HT as well as horses who are HT x HT bred (both parents were HT horses) will be eligible for these races. The new HT series race divisions will be kicking off in Thoroughbred Gems and Trinities this year for both sexes, on both surfaces, in both America and Europe. We are removing all strict grade restrictions. What this means is that any horse can technically enter any grade of race. However, downgrading will still result in handicapped PRs and handily notes. Anyone abusing the system is also still subject to warning. The benefit of this change is that it gives you more flexibility to enter horses in whatever grade you feel suits them best each week. For example, if your G1 horse has grey rest and isn't going to run at their normal level, you'll now able to enter them in G2 or even G3 as you try to eke out those last few points. Series races will now be gender restricted - open divisions will be replaced with colt/gelding divisions. This applies only to series races and not to Stellar or any other races, where you may still enter males and females together in open divisions. There are also a few changes coming specifically for stock breeds. First, we are adding 100 and 900 yard races throughout the stock division. This will result in distance changes for a few series races to ensure every distance is represented in eat least one series race. More info will be forthcoming when training and entering are unlocked! Midsummer Futurity and International Stock Horse Championships will be split by breed beginning this year. Both will offer a Quarter Horse and a Paint Horse division and the ISHC will officially become IQHC and IPHC, respectively. Finally, Appendix geldings will be exempt from normal Appendix restrictions, meaning they will be able to enter series races without purifying or earning points. Stock and Standardbred race cards are being greatly expanded this year to offer a full range of races each (racing) meet. These breeds will also consume less Energy and Rest in races, allowing them to race at a more realistic frequency. One last tidbit for this afternoon's update! Fillies are no longer eligible to retire just for having low potential. The minimum Longevity requirement for all horses has been reduced from 10 races to 6 races. However, 2 year olds of all breeds will now consume more Longevity with each start. I'm sure you're all wondering when training and entering will be available again. I don't yet have a solid timeline for either, but I will be shocked if either one is open any sooner than tomorrow. Take a little break or put your energy into organizing your barns, updating your notes, and getting things ready to hit the new year running! |

| Thanks for all your hardwork and looking forward to these changes! I am taking the time that it would take me to train my horses to organise them, moving last year two year olds into their three year old barn etc. Now going through my retired horses and picking which ones will be going out to pasture. |

| OMGosh where to start, super excited about the HT series races, already had discovered the glow up button and just love it, very much appreciate the reduction in ht prices, and love the bonus for the studs covering ht mares. Nice to see them getting some love. Also REALLY love the grade restrictions being removed. much more realistic due to all the other factors that now play into prepping for and racing our horses. Looking forward to all the upcoming changes, thanks so much for all your hard work. |

| WOW! That's a lotta updates, I already accidentally on P purpose discovered the Glow up Box & button on the two-year-olds and I love that it's easy to see. (I think the Grey horse might have buried their box and button in the mud or eaten it thinking it's food.) Can't wait for the updates, and also Good Luck to everyone for the foals for this year. <3 |
