Life's A Beach You've hopped up on a treacherous 2, wondering what you've gotten yourself into. Two steps after leaving the track, you find yourself riding onto a still, deserted beach. You look from left to right before shaking your head. Nothing makes sense. There's no way you walked from the track straight to the shore...unless you walked right through a portal. But portals don't exist, do they? With a shrug, Quirk E. Compass lets out a chirp, reminding you that it's time to focus on the task at hand. All you have is a map. Unfortunately, it has no X to mark the spot. As if arriving on cue, a banner appears in the sky, reading The secret number you're searching for belongs to the single one responsible for this chaos. Great... It seems you have to solve a mystery to figure out where to head from here! Answer: 1 [Issa (#1)] Vein of Gold Bingo! You got it! You're immediately teleported to a tiny island. Like...real tiny. What was the point of riding horses on this adventure if there's not even room for them to walk?! You sigh, but Quirk E. Compass smiles knowingly. "Just wait," they say. You get the feeling they know what's up ahead...but if they've been here before why can't they just tell you where to go?! They hand you a gold trinket and say "Clue 2". It's shaped a bit like a raindrop and is actually transparent glass filled with molten gold that flows in a mesmerizing way as you twirl the trinket around. On the bottom, delicate engraving reads The Pioneer Creation. Answer: 452 [First created Goldblood] First at Bat The next island you find yourself on is a little bit bigger. You walk your horse in a wobbly circle around the perimeter, as if it's a round pen without walls. Honestly? You could probably get used to starting horses out like this. Nothing but the wide open sea surrounding you and a salty breeze caressing your face. Yeah, this'd be the life. Quirk E. Compass smiles knowingly as they ride your other horse around beside you. You know, Quirk E.'s, actually a pretty good rider. The horse they're riding seems completely at ease and is behaving better than your own. Might want to look into hiring them as an assistant two-year-old trainer when you get home. Just as your horse is starting to feel relaxed, a baseball comes flying out of nowhere. Your horse skedaddles sideways, almost launching you into the waves you were admiring a moment ago, as the baseball thunks right into the sand. Before you can contemplate dismounting to pick up the ball, the sand shifts to reveal a white base on the beach. Three more appear, turning the island into an infield. A pair of hearts light up on first, shimmer for a moment, and then merge into one. You scratch your head and glance at Quirk, but all they say is "Forget the pitcher's mound, he's over the hill!". Helpful, Quirk, real helpful. Answer: 803 [First horse born on FFH] Bluegrass Blues You've made it to the third island and things are really starting to shape up! In fact, this island looks to be formed in the shape of a triangle. It's bigger than the last, with a few scattered trees and sparse vegetation. Your young mounts seem a little wary as you explore the unfamiliar terrain, but after weaving around for a few minutes they settle in. Never fear, however, because danger is always near! Especially for a green horse! The sound of trumpets, or maybe bugles, pierces the air. It's loud and uncomfortable while it lasts, but thankfully it fades away into a much softer, though upbeat, song. As you listen, you find yourself humming along. On a spring Kentucky day... This three-year-old's dreams were dashed... He became the first last. What an unusual song. It doesn't seem like it was a great day for that horse. You reach down to scritch your horse's neck, mind wandering to a day in the future where they might come home with better results. Answer: 515 [Last place in the Y1 Liberty Derby] Glisten Up You blink in surprise for a moment. If you were expecting an island with more vegetation than the last, you were wrong. This one is very...gold. It's nothing but sand as if it's just one endless beach. The sand shimmers in the sunlight, like someone actually scooped up all the real sand and replaced it with glittering confetti. Might as well give your horse a break while you get off, scoop some up, and look for a place to store it. Maybe if you gather enough gold, Quirk E. Compass will tell you how to make a quick trip home to find a better use for it! Answer: Code found after turning in the gold collection Highland Hero The wee isles you started on have gradually transformed into what feel like, well, real islands. This one isn't tropical, but instead reminds you of rocky highlands. There's birds chirping in the trees and gentle waves lapping at a pebbled shore. It's cooled off a bit, and you find yourself wishing you'd brought a jacket. As you stare up at the partly-cloudy sky wondering if it's going to rain, Quirk reaches into their pocket and retrieves a parcel wrapped in plaid. Inside is a golden plaque with a cute little poem. Myths spun of gold, This young lad was told. Songs of fortune rang true, No other with more riches in view. Answer: 37895 [Horse with the highest-ever race earnings] Blooms & Bees Yay! You made it! You're doing a great job so far, and it looks like your horses are still hanging in too. All that teleporting is surely a little discombobulating, so maybe it's time to take some time to rest and rejuvenate. This island seems like just the place! It's covered in lush green grass - so tantalizing your horse is already trying to sneak a bite or two. You hop off and unsaddle and then send your horses off to graze. There's a pond with a picnic set up for you and Quirk, so you sit down for a snack. The landscape around you is covered in flowers. Tulips, daffodils, poppies, and pansies...all in a rainbow of colors. You see ladybugs crawling on a leaf, bees buzzing against pink petals, and bunnies scurrying around. Yeah, a little change of pace is exactly what you need. Answer: Code found after playing Springo Emojional Moments Whether or not you earned a blackout, I hope Springo luck was on your side! However, it's time to leave the relaxation behind as we trek on...this island has more to discover than any before! You've been deposited onto the southern shore and the terrain ahead of you climbs...and climbs...and climbs. It's a towering peak that almost seems to touch the sun. The highest point of the island almost looks like it's setting off sparks...but you're pretty sure it's just an illusion and not the start of a volcanic eruption. As much as you'd like to investigate the towering cliffside, you know your young horse isn't quite ready for that yet. Instead, you take them for a leisurely ride through the groves at the base of the mountain and across a narrow creek. Everything's going great! You find a smile spreading across your face and look over to see Quirk E. Compass looking joyful too. "You've turned out to be great company," you say, feeling the urge to pay a compliment. "Doesn't hurt that I've been entrusted with the care of such a prized pony," Quirk says with a coo, "This one feels like it's going to be something special." Quirk continues to chat with you about the horse's pedigree and other strong traits...and it feels nice to have your efforts recognized. Answer: Code found after sending a Spark of Joy Path to the Stars If the last island was full of sparks, this one can only be described as a sea of stars. It's the black of night and you're pretty sure you can make out every star in the sky. Perhaps even some no one's discovered before. The young horses are nervous as this is one of their first real night outings, but you talk soothingly to them - telling them tales of the greats that came before them - and soon they begin to settle into a steady walking pace. Stars begin to fall like rain, hitting the ground in a musical pattern of plinks and plonks. You reach out and catch a brilliant purple star in your hand and are surprised to find that it doesn't burn. It's a crystal the color of amethyst and as you turn it over in your hand it cracks open to reveal a secret buried inside. He paved the way, is embossed on a slip of silver foil. Answer: 106924 [First male Quarter Horse to earn Court of Stars] Reality Shift It's been a great trip down memory lane, hasn't it? It feels like you've seen half the world in the span of a few hours. You can sense the end drawing near, as Quirk E. Compass grows more excited and urges you to ride a little faster. The darkness has given way to dusk on this island that seems to be a little too pretty to be real. It's almost like everything here has an aura of incandescence. Hey, maybe it does. Stranger things have happened on this adventure! "Last one," Quirk states eagerly as they hand you an envelope. The envelope is definitely pearlescent and smells exactly like faerie dust...not that you know how that smells. You open the envelope and slide out a sheet of tissue paper. It's bordered in swirls of iridescent silver and inscribed with the finest calligraphy you've ever seen. Not a rose, nor a bay. Fluttering in the shadow of the day. Once the start of something new, the next chapter of my faeble arrives soon. Answer: 178049 [First Fae] Entering the Sanctum Protocol validation… 1… 2… 602… 1539… 1593… 1601… 2464… 2785… 2945… Confirmed! You will be arriving at your destination in 3… 2… 1… ~~~ You make it through the last portal and find yourself on an island full of mystery and magic. The sky is a bright cerulean and the trees stand tall in viridian. You spin [Horse 1] in a circle just soaking it all in. Up ahead you see a clearing in the trees with a life-sized statue of a horse in a rearing pose. It's gold, gleaming from rays of sunlight piercing through the leafy canopy of the wildwood. As you walk closer, you notice that not just the statue is made of gold. Its essence has taken root in the landscape around it, turning blades of grass into the same gilt hue. It may dawn on you that you've just discovered something monumental. [Horse 1] whinnies in agreement as a swirl of light shoots from the statue toward it, wrapping your horse in a cloud of gold. [Horse 2], standing nearby with Quirk E. Compass in the saddle, is enveloped in a similar mist. The sparkling sensation lingers for several moments before it recedes back into the statue it came from. “May your futures be blessed,” a soft voice whispers through the trees. Your gaze scouts the clearing but you see no one. Silence settles comfortably over the sanctum as you back away from the statue. Something about your horse feels different…and it's not just that it's being calm and quiet. What exactly did that mysterious lighty, cloudy, misty, glowy, magicy stuff do?! As you dismount and begin inspecting, you realize [Horse 1] feels more powerful now, somehow. But…wait a minute! Are its eyes gold?! They definitely weren't that color when you pulled [Horse 1] out of the stall this morning. Glancing over, you realize [Horse 2] looks like it's walked through a very expensive metallic paint. Gold, of course...and you suspect it's not ordinary paint. ~~~ Congratulations! You've unlocked the Sanctum of Gold, which has bestowed gifts upon the horses you rode here today! [Horse 1] has received Gilt Eye and [Horse 2] has received Gilt Hoof. They've also each received a small boost of knowledge and stand with a tiny bit more confidence and composure. Now that you've been here once, you'll have no problem finding your way again. Just head out of the barn, take a sharp right, and...well, you'll figure it out. You've also unlocked the smelting tab at the Workshop. It might be a little dusty, but I'm sure you'll have it fixed up in no time! | |
