After some revamping, Entry Suggestions have returned for everyone! While a toggle on/off option might be added in the future, for now they will show up for all players regardless of what upgrades you have purchased. Please keep in mind that these are just a suggestion and if you can see Hidden Stats and/or Performance Ratings, you will likely have better results by utilizing those tools instead.

Potential Grade
The first grade suggestion included is the Potential Grade. This is simply the grade a horse should do well in based upon their Potential. Potential is always the primary way to figure out what grade a horse is capable of entering, though some horses may end up in a higher or lower grade depending upon their feeding, training, and entering routine. The suggestion here generally aligns with the chart found on the Evaluating Talent page. You could consider this suggestion a target for your horse.

Potential Grade is adjusted based on Peak Gene for 2 and 3 year olds as appropriate for age. If you use an item to increase a horse's Peak % but not their Peak Gene, you will likely want to enter higher than is suggested. You may also see "Highest Available" for 2 year olds, which indicates that the horse should do well in the highest available grade. These horses are typically series candidates and will do well in G1, but can enter G3 or G2 races when G1 aren't available. Potential Grade for 3 year olds assumes they are entering 3 year old only races. If entering against older horses, refer to their Performance Grade.

Performance Grade
The second grade suggestion given for a horse is called Performance Grade. This looks at race performance and suggests what grade is appropriate based upon their recent, non-Handily, Performance Ratings (PRs). As always, this suggestion resets in January due to the many things that can change as horses age up or perform off season training. Rather than reverting to the Potential suggestion as it used to in January, Performance Grade will not offer a suggestion until a horse has raced within the year.

Once your horse has an eligible race under their hooves, you might notice an icon next to this suggestion. You will see the Underperforming icon (

) when a horse is running lower PRs than their Potential indicates they are capable of. You can click the icon to go directly to the Performance Ratings Handbook page to troubleshoot what might be hurting your horse's PR.

On the other hand, you'll see the Overachieving icon (

) if your horse is running higher PRs than expected for their Potential. This is a great thing to see, but does mean you may need to enter the horse in a higher grade than Potential suggests to avoid getting Handily notes in future races.

Considering the unpredictability of 2 year olds, they will never show Underperforming or Overperforming icons. You should pay more attention to Potential Grade than Performance Grade for them as PRs can fluctuate significantly from race to race.

I was stressing out a bit at the removal of suggested grades because it can be a nice shorthand to help me figure out horses I am a little confused about. But this whole system seems much better. Horses no longer have a chance to reveal genotype upon retirement. However, the chance to reveal transition genes is increased for horses who have a Minor, Major, or Master. (With each award offering a greater chance.)

Horses who earn Court of Stars now receive a Producer Quality boost. Horses who have already earned Court of Stars have also received a PQ boost.

A few minor adjustments have been made to Stallion Grades and stallions will need retested. Notably - Since SS/Import/Custom cannot be the worst level of 'Average', they may still earn B grades. Horses with tested negative mutations also cannot grade higher than C unless tested AA+ PQ. This info has been updated in the Handbook as well. Thanks for your patience!

The Stallion Grade system has been updated and testing is open again. These updates offer more flexibility in factors that have less impact on a foal's potential while placing more weight on factors that have a stronger impact on a foal's potential. The Handbook page has also been updated, though the most notable change is that tested Average PQ cannot grade higher than C.

Contesting horses will have a 3 leg jackpot series through July, August, and September beginning in Y55. This will be offered for both barrels and poles with alternating regions per race.

Performance based Suggested Grade now only looks at a horse's most recent race. This should alleviate a lot of problems where horses show a lower grade than is actually appropriate, helping avoid Handily results.

Mares who are already retired may be eligible for reduced foal slots. If so, a notice will appear at the top of their page allowing you to opt in (or opt out) of the foal slot change.

The value of Golden Apples has been updated to 200 GA = 100 PC = $1,000,000 (loosely). Prices for items in the GAO have been updated accordingly. The PC value for Sunkissed Tart, Ultra Wraps, Cream Token, Roan Token, and Dun Token have also been updated.

Jockey fees (taken from race income) have been adjusted. The fee for 3 jockeys has been reduced, while additional cost tiers have been added for having 4 or 5+ actively contracted jockeys.

HT mares will earn 1 bonus foal slot, meaning they always retire with at least 2 slots. A bonus slot is also earned for placing top 5 in a series race, rather than top 3.
