|There several ways participating in color shows can benefit a stable and a horse. One of the simplest ways is prize money. Every class has $100,000 minimum purse, and prize money is distributed through 6th place. Entry fees act as a jackpot where total of the purse is increased dependent on the number of entries. For every entry over 10, an additional $10,000 is added to the purse. This means a show with 20 entries will have a doubled purse ($200,000) while a show with 50 entries will have a $500,000 purse. Jackpot purses are capped at $1,000,000.|
|Shows award Color Points which are an entirely separate entity from racing points. Color Points are awarded based on the number of entries in the class. Every 3 entries awards 1 point to the class winner - up to a maximum of 15 points. Points are then awarded to 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and so on, decreasing by 1 point each time, until no more points are available.
With this system in place, class size ultimately determines how low a horse may place and still earn points. A class which reaches the maximum of 15 points will award points to 15 places, while a class with only 9 entries for 3 points will only award points to the top 3 finishers.
A Grand Champion and a Select Grand Champion is crowned in each color category. This will be awarded to one horse across all breeds, statuses and sexes, split only by the regular and Select division. Horses who earn a Grand Champion will receive 50 Golden Apples! If a horse receives 5 Grand Champions, the owner will earn a Bedazzling Shampoo and Grand Supreme award. A Bedazzling Shampoo can be used on any horse to improve a Color Quality gene of your choice!
Horses who earn 100 color points in any individual color category will receive a Color Merit for that respective color - such as a Cream Merit, Roan Merit etc. Horses who earn 250 Color Points in a singular color category will receive a Color Distinction. Owners will also receive a cash bonus upon earning a Color Merit/Color Distinction on a horse. It is possible for a horse to earn a Color Merit and Color Distinction for each color they exhibit. Color Points, Color Merits and Color Distinctions do not provide any breeding bonuses.
Appendix stock horses who earn 25 color points will earn their full stock papers as a Quarter Horse or Paint Horse. Colts or stallions who earn 50 color points are eligible to stand at public stud regardless of their racing points and will start with foal slots.
Yearlings who compete in at least 10 color shows will receive a boost to their Travel affinity which will enhance their ability to run successfully away from their home track as well as reduce extra Energy and Rest penalties running away from home.
