Blood Types
Issa (#1)
07/13/19 2:16 pm
It has come to our attention that some players have been lying about their mares' (and possibly stallions') blood types in order to more easily get breeding requests accepted. This is not okay! Anything that deceives another player is a violation of the Terms of Service. Not only is it rude and potentially harmful to that player, but it's only hurting your own breeding program as well.

If your horse has not been tested via Blood Test, Blood Range Test, or Runemaster's Tome, they should be listed as unknown. The only exceptions to this would be Cloaked and Cloaked Line horses, which are also still technically unknown.

If a horse's parents were both tested, you may also use this information to accurately list your horse's BT. For example, if your horse's sire is I and dam is I (again - both tested and visible on Genetics page), you may list your horse as I with a note like "both parents are proven I so this horse must also be I". If the sire is I and the dam is II-IV, you cannot list your horse as I (they would be I-IV) regardless of suspicions. You could list them as "I-IV but seems to favor I".

In addition, Cloaked and Cloaked Line are not the same. You should only list a stallion as Cloaked if he has actually been given a Mistweaver's Cloak. This item raises producer quality (as well as genes) and means that a horse can be no worse than an average producer. A Cloaked Line horse is merely the offspring of a Cloaked horse. You cannot see their BT, but they come with no guarantee of quality.

If you see a horse inaccurately labeled, please report it to the Modbox. This is not something we are okay with and we will always do our best to see it resolved quickly when reported. We apologize to everyone who may have inadvertently accepted bad BT cross requests this year (or in previous years) from players who were providing false information. If you have any mares bred to your stallions (or bred your mare to outside stallions) where false information was provided, please get in touch with a moderator and we will figure out a solution.

Note: If you suspect someone has BT listed wrong purely by accident (perhaps listed Cloaked Line still even though they ended up using a Cloak), you are also welcome to message the player (nicely) and let them know first. The serious offenders we are concerned with are only those who are doing this knowingly and willingly, purely for their own benefit.

If you are new or confused about Blood Types and how they are inherited, you can refresh on it in the Handbook. If you have any questions, you are always welcome to ask on Discord or the forums. We are always happy to answer as many questions as needed to help you understand the game mechanics better! (Newbies, if you're shy, you can also hang out in #newbie_nook, where questions/comments can only be seen by other newbies and moderators.)

Wow, too bad there always seem to be people who will try to break the rules to get something they want. :/ I’m curious though - is there a situation where an owner would know BT but it wouldn’t be publicly visible? I was under the impression that things like that would be generally viewable by all.

Its sad that this is happening. I'll have to recheck my breedings for this year.

Thank you for the heads up! It's too bad people are doing this...it breaks the game, and the trust in the community (to those who are purposefully doing this). Accidental I can understand, but once you know of the problem, fix it right away :)

07/13/19 3:42 pm
This has always been clear to me. My cloaked line horses are listed as "cloaked line (another parent type X)" and unknowns are, well, unknown. I also go through pedigrees if parents are listed as one type but not tested to make sure they truly are that type before making a note on my horses. If there's even one unknown or other type than the parents are listed as, they are unknown to me. I truly hope no one had bad bloodline crosses this year due to some people lying about it. :( also Misty, in case you read this, the owner (and anyone else) could know horse's BT even if it isn't visible (=tested) by looking at their pedigree and having either parents tested or all grandparents tested (No unknowns).
Titan (#1601)
07/13/19 3:43 pm
@Misty - You can know bloodtype without testing if the pedigree is tested, but at any point, if you add in an unknown horse, you CANNOT know the line's BT anymore. So if all the grandparents are TYPE I, then you know the grand foal is type I, but if neither parent is tested and the Sire's sire is Type IV, and the dam is Type II, and the mare's parents are type V, you have no idea without testing what that foal is. Same with creates/no pedigree horses, you cannot "assume" what their type is without testing it.

It's sad that there's always some people that lie in games I always check through pedigree and if the site and dam are different I list that or if I know only one of the parents I put it down with a ? For the dams side of BT I will have to go through and check everyone again when I got time but thank you for the news about this

Thank you so much for reminding me to check mares bloodtypes listed! I think I'm gonna have to go through all of my mares and stallions (though theirs should all be bought) just to double check their types. I try to do that at the beginning of every breeding season, so hopefully I didn't make any mistakes and the new mares are accurate. Good luck everyone :)

Thanks for keeping a close eye on something you would not think would happen with this great group of players. I know so little of all this breeding vocabulary, time to hit the manual and see how I go about testing my mares and few stallions I have so I dont mess anything up (especially for other players).

07/13/19 9:24 pm
Oh this is disappointing to read. :( I 100% rely on a trust system when accepting mares to my studs and am so disappointed to have to add an extra layer of screening to my acceptances now. I have made the one off mistake of not listing a freshman who I forgot I cloaked at the last minute but this level of deceit just hurts the entire game in the long wrong.
Jess (#3414)

MK (#213)
07/13/19 11:45 pm
This was disappointing to read but necessary to talk about. As for people who are accidentally labeling their bloodstock, I'd strongly suggest reaching out with a kind message! I didn't realize that cloaked and cloaked lineage are completely different and should be said as such so when I just put "cloaked" in the mini notes for a few studs, it seemed as if I got reported for incorrectly advertising them since a mod reset them with a message. As it was an accident (and perhaps a really big brain fart), it felt like a slap on the hands but I did learn my lesson even though it was an accident. I hope others learn from mistakes too so that we can all be on the same page here. I will have to look more carefully for future breeding pairs.

I had a stallion listed as cloaked, when he was cloaked line. It was purely an accident since I just just trying to shorten things to fit on his mini notes for it to be visible and didn't realize it to be an issue. However, I have fixed this.

Making Magic

Prime has been broken and has not been declining at all for several game years. As a result, most horses have substantially more Prime than should be appropriate. (Ex: A 6yo who hit 100% Peak by the time they turned 4 should have lost 24+ Prime but has actually lost none.) Rather than setting all horses to what they should have, horses 5 and older will temporarily lose Prime twice as fast to accommodate.

A few minor adjustments have been made to Stallion Grades and stallions will need retested. Notably - Since SS/Import/Custom cannot be the worst level of 'Average', they may still earn B grades. Horses with tested negative mutations also cannot grade higher than C unless tested AA+ PQ. This info has been updated in the Handbook as well. Thanks for your patience!

The Stallion Grade system has been updated and testing is open again. These updates offer more flexibility in factors that have less impact on a foal's potential while placing more weight on factors that have a stronger impact on a foal's potential. The Handbook page has also been updated, though the most notable change is that tested Average PQ cannot grade higher than C.

Performance based Suggested Grade now only looks at a horse's most recent race. This should alleviate a lot of problems where horses show a lower grade than is actually appropriate, helping avoid Handily results.
