We're at it again! A handful of quality of life and other improvements!

When you logged in today did you notice that new checkbox on the login form? If not, keep an eye out for it next time. You can now choose to stay logged in any time you login, which will allow cookies to persist even if you’re idle. This will not work through closing your browser, but should otherwise make it easier to avoid logging in every time you click a link in Discord. (That’s not just me, right?)

Barn/pasture pages should now be sortable by breed, but it seems to not be working across the board just yet. Flash should figure out what’s wrong with it and have it fixed later tonight so that it’s working correctly across all pages. If you don’t know how to sort pages yet, just click the column header to sort by any (sortable) column!

Horses will now automatically pension when they turn 25. This will remove them from your retired barns, saving you a little bit of time at the start of the year. This will not impact pregnancies for mares who are already in foal.

Neglected horse reclaim has moved to its own page. You can find this link on the left bar of your Stable page. Several smaller bugs relating to reclaim have also been fixed to prevent exploitation.

You can now view all of the Partnerships invested in a horse! To do so, simply click the link found on the left side of their page. This page has a list of all partners as well as a quick count of total partnerships and partnerships per level.

Turnout for retired horses has long seemed like a worthless training option so we’ve breathed a little life back into it. Turnouts now have a small chance to increase fertility for both mares and stallions. In addition, it will always decrease pregnancy risk for mares in foal.

In our ongoing efforts to streamline new players’ experience with FFH, we have decided to remove the Training Advisor. The notes provided were confusing for some to decipher and all-in-all less useful than something more straightforward. This has been replaced with the option to purchase Aptitude Genes from the Geneticist at similar prices based upon rank. Aptitude Genes will show distance and surface genes on the horse’s main page, Exercise page, and Genetics page.

We’ve also spent a bit of time over the past several game years looking for ways to ensure FFH never becomes pay-to-win. We want to see series races as fair as possible and feel that results should be based upon effort and a horse’s actual talent. Many items have been restricted in one form or fashion, and Blazing Horseshoes have once again been adjusted. You may now only use Blazing Horseshoes a maximum of 2 times per year on any given horse. This means they can still save you in an ‘oops’ moment where you forgot to rest a horse before a series race or can be used to get your horse through something grueling such as Trinities. What were seeing that we do not want to see is some horses (particularly 2yo and 3yo) being given Blazing Horseshoes nearly every month just to get ahead of their competition. This change is effective immediately, but will not actually impact anyone until January. (There are only 2 months left in this year, so you’ll be starting fresh in January regardless.)

Finally, we’ve watched PRs fluctuate off and on throughout the year with some really high PRs and then some settling into what should be fairly normal and consistent PRs going forward. PR restrictions and handily notes/PR handicaps for all ages and grades have been adjusted accordingly. The list of these is below. However, it is worth noting that stock and Standardbred races are far, far less competitive than Thoroughbred/Goldblood races, so you can easily bump stock/STB up 1-2 grades from what this suggests. The main goal behind this change is to ensure no horse is unfairly being forced into a grade where they cannot be competitive.

Allowance Max: 120

I’d also like to quickly remind you how restrictions and handicaps work. Restrictions are enforced via script and are not something that can be maneuvered around. They are based on a horse’s average PR in their most recent 3 races. Once a horse’s recent average falls above the maximum allowed, they are locked out of grades below that line. If your horse’s average drops below that line again, they’ll regain eligibility for the lower grade.

On the other hand, handicaps are not a hard limit. Any horse who runs a race 5 points over the above numbers will receive a Handily note indicating that they outperformed the grade they entered. In addition, their PR is handicapped down to an acceptable level for that grade. For example, if a 3yo+ horse entered a G3 race and ran a 225 PR, they would be given a Handily note for scoring too high and then their PR would be handicapped at something around 170. This means that any time a horse performs handily, their PR does not accurately depict their capabilities. Use the Handbook page on ‘Evaluating Talent’ to get a better idea of what grade a horse belongs in to avoid this happening to your horse.

Thanks again for all the thoughtful updates. Lovin the new Turnout improvements, The staying logged in feature too. I was wondering about the handily process because I've had a couple horses come in third, but still got a handily note. I will miss the trainer :( but then I was just being lazy anyway. Oh yeah and blazing horseshoes too. Not that I was using them for unfair gain, but they came in so handy for horses with really low energy gain.

Prime has been broken and has not been declining at all for several game years. As a result, most horses have substantially more Prime than should be appropriate. (Ex: A 6yo who hit 100% Peak by the time they turned 4 should have lost 24+ Prime but has actually lost none.) Rather than setting all horses to what they should have, horses 5 and older will temporarily lose Prime twice as fast to accommodate.

Time Turner and Prismatic Time Turner have been restored from retirement. They now change a mare's due date to January or the current month and Prismatic also resets a mare's color show cooldown.

The mare grading formula has been updated. All mares may now be tested again, although most likely there will be few changes.

Horses who earn Court of Stars now receive a Producer Quality boost. Horses who have already earned Court of Stars have also received a PQ boost.

A few minor adjustments have been made to Stallion Grades and stallions will need retested. Notably - Since SS/Import/Custom cannot be the worst level of 'Average', they may still earn B grades. Horses with tested negative mutations also cannot grade higher than C unless tested AA+ PQ. This info has been updated in the Handbook as well. Thanks for your patience!

The Stallion Grade system has been updated and testing is open again. These updates offer more flexibility in factors that have less impact on a foal's potential while placing more weight on factors that have a stronger impact on a foal's potential. The Handbook page has also been updated, though the most notable change is that tested Average PQ cannot grade higher than C.

Contesting horses will have a 3 leg jackpot series through July, August, and September beginning in Y55. This will be offered for both barrels and poles with alternating regions per race.

Performance based Suggested Grade now only looks at a horse's most recent race. This should alleviate a lot of problems where horses show a lower grade than is actually appropriate, helping avoid Handily results.

Mares who are already retired may be eligible for reduced foal slots. If so, a notice will appear at the top of their page allowing you to opt in (or opt out) of the foal slot change.

The value of Golden Apples has been updated to 200 GA = 100 PC = $1,000,000 (loosely). Prices for items in the GAO have been updated accordingly. The PC value for Sunkissed Tart, Ultra Wraps, Cream Token, Roan Token, and Dun Token have also been updated.
