Genetic Anomalies & Assorted Updates |

Genetic defects have been renamed genetic anomalies. Anomalies typically result in negative outcomes, previously called defects, where genes drop to recessive regardless of what they should have been. However, foals may also inherit positive anomalies, where genes improve to homozygous regardless of what they should have been. There are a few changes to how anomalies are inherited listed below. As already noted in the sidebar, feeding Legacy to a mare increases her chance of producing negative anomalies in future pregnancies. Select Sale mares are immune to this effect. Heritage no longer contributes to a foal's chance of inheriting anomalies. Development has a chance to produce negative anomalies. Development anomalies work exactly like Health - sires are more influential than dams and anomalies can only occur if one or both parents have one or more recessive Development genes. All breedings have a chance to produce negative genetic anomalies, similar to how horses always have a small chance of injury in every race. Positive anomalies have a chance to occur when a foal's sire and/or dam has a positive (good) Blood Type mutation. Additionally, you will receive a private message any time a foal is born with complications that are highly likely to produce negative anomalies. These situations include: missed check-up(s), high Pregnancy Risk, and/or low sire Condition (at the time of covering). You will not receive a message when foals are born from incompatible Blood Type crosses or when a sire/dam has a negative (bad) Blood Type mutation. There have been a few other updates already mentioned in the sidebar this week: • Horses who are not fed or trained in a given month gain Risk and do not gain Maturity. • Account freezing is unavailable until further notice. • Robin's Nests may only be used on mares who have previously been fed Legacy. • Horses transitioning to Steeplechase automatically max all of their stats if they have completed (earned a PR in) at least 10 races. • Pro players can see Morale and Rest percentages on horse pages. The color scale has shifted slightly for both so that they follow the same pattern. • The Pacific region will not be hosting series races next year with the exception of series that rotate regions (ZZ, ES, WCF, ISHC). • All series races now allow multiple entries like normal races. • Stat stars are now automatically visible for all horses. Please keep an eye out for more updates as we approach the new year! Small changes will continue to be announced under Making Magic as they’re completed. |

Thank you for the updates! It's nice to see a detailed explanation of genetic anomalies and how they work and how to avoid them (in a small way....I know they are random and can occur no matter how careful you are!) |

Definitely appreciate how complex but realistic breeding is becoming--makes it about more than just matching genes to get a "perfect" horse! I am super excited to see what other small updates get added before Y46 rolls around. |

Interesting updates. Somehow I don't think I knew that sires were more influential in health (and now development) than dams. The more you know! |

This is such a cool update. I love genetics and even though a lot of the update deals with genetic combinations that might result in a bad outcome, it's still fascinating. Thanks again for the details and great communication! |

Loving the morale and rest percentages! Also think the anomalies thing is really neat. Cool that there's a chance for both good and bad ones! |
Rendezvous (#5831) KC Racing Posted On: 07/22/21 1:56 pm |
Thanks for the update. I now know that I should start heavily considering gelding colts with G or worse genes now and getting rid of them if they don't fit my program. I think I already got rid of the retired stallions that had something along those lines. Here's hoping for a great new year with yearlings. Thanks for keeping the game balanced and exciting. |
Dyana (#4623) Lonlon Farm Posted On: 07/22/21 1:57 pm |
I‘m glad the rest and morale percentages are back! I much prefer precise information instead of simplified stars. As for the anomaly change, I‘ll wait for breeding season to observe the effect... |
Ali (#8810) Paradise Posted On: 07/22/21 3:36 pm |
Thanks for the update! :D I'm really interested in what kind of anomalies could rezult from a breeding. I really like how detailed and realistic everything is about this game. It makes it unique |

Oh geez- This game is so complicated, and this update is even more so LOL. Wow the foal/pregnancy risks are amazing, really realistic. I haven’t had much time to concentrate on learning how this game works, but maybe I should once I find time XD |
